Fertile Dirt: 100-500 gold
This is another of the Planned Necromancy Reagents. It is found on Earth Elementals. Now these Bad Boys hit hard, but they Move slow and make farting noises when they walk.... (Maybe that's why they walk slowly?) Anyway.. :)

The first level of Shame Dungeon is filled to the Brim with Earth eles, they also spawn in good Numbers in the Old lands desert. (The one North of Briton).

Magery is a good way to kill them, archery can be used too but its going to take a while, an Experienced Melee fighter does very well against them, one with good parrying is Ideal. But whatever you do, don't stand in the same place to long or let them gang up on you, run off a ways, heal, then Resume the fray.

Each earth Eles used to have 2 fertile dirt on them, now they only have one. They will also have a bit of Ore, 2 Gem Stones, and a few hundred gold. They are an Excellent monster for Loot, and the fertile dirt is just the icing on the cake.

Fireworks Wand: 50k gold
These were/are prizes from OSI they come with 100 charges a piece, and are a Lot of fun for Social events, (Like weddings, House parties, and in between shows on Talent nights in Briton). They are very popular and will almost certainly be an item that comes back again as a Prize from OSI.

Fishing net (a special fishing net) 3k-10k gold

Around 90 Skill Fishermen will start pulling these up with some regularity. Its possable to get them earlier and some people have gotten them at very low skill levels (below 80) but those are the Very rare exceptions and not the rule. However they are available on player Vendors for anywhere from 4k to 15k.

1 to 4 Creatures will generally spawn, and it will be things like Sea Serpents, Deep Sea serpents, Water Elementals, and Krackens. Sea serpents and water eles are not much of a problem for Experienced players, but Deep sea serpents and Krackens you need to watch out for. Krackens have an Amazing melee attack and a LOT of hit points. It is best to Kill them with archery or magery and run to heal several times in the Process. Deep sea serpents are Much tougher serpents and are generally green in color.

As far as I know you can only do this from a boat because you need to be in "deep water" (usually about 3 full screens from the nearest coast) I have heard rumors that their are deep water locations that are near coast lines but I have yet to find any. This is ok tho, because if you pull up a Kracken it will chase you down on land as well as sea (its one of the few creatures that can do both). But if you are on the boat and not next to the rail it wont be able to melee you and can only use its Breath weapon.

You do not have to have any Fishing skill to use these, as illustrated below I did it with my wimpy little 50 Hit point Inscriptionist character, he only has 12.3 Fishing skill points. Of course when the monsters spawned I ran like heck!

Flasks: 750k gold

Flasks and Beakers can be found Legitimately in the laboratory in Hythloth once a month or so. However there was at one time a Bug which allowed people to obtain items on Display in the NPC shops in town, and that is the source of a lot of them.

Flask Animated: 3-5 million gold
Yep, one exists that I Know of. I'm guessing it was a Bug that obtained it, however that is only a Guess.

There is a healthy amount of variance of the flasks and beakers that creep into the market, and it could easily be that who ever the lucky people are in Hythloth that find one might have been SUPER lucky and found an animated one.

Flask Stand: Can also be obtained through Hythloth, its not quite the same as the Alchemy stand that Tinkers make.

Folded Sheets: 300k-750k gold
Monthly spawn at the Bucs Den Blacksmith shop next to the one I'm pointing to in the picture. (Important) don't confuse these with oil cloths when making trades, Oil cloths are a different color, more rectangular, and say "Oil Cloth" when you click on them!

Food Items: 500-2500 gold
All kinds of food items can be found in the Crates, Barrels, and Gold Box (Strong boxes) Of Provisioners shops.

Food Miscolored: 10k-25k gold per piece
Sam I am, Sam I am, I wish I had Green Beer and Purple ham, for if I did, then all would be well, The only Problem would be the smell!

Most Mis-colored food came out when trammel was introduced, they were Purchased from NPC waiters, waitresses, innkeepers, and cooks. The bug has since been fixed, so these items are very rare. Also these are supposed to be deleted on sight when discovered by a GM, however I have yet to hear of that and would Probably be a tad indigent about it if I do Personally experience that. (But with OSI who knows, some days they are an absolute pleasure, others some snotty person is in a Bad mood and going to be a lamer to everyone they meet that day.

Forged metal: 1000-5000 gold
One of the Blacksmith rares items, these can be found in the Crates, Barrels, and Gold Box (Strong Box) of Blacksmith shops. The most popular is Serpents hold (Due to the large Number of Crates there) however they will Spawn at all Blacksmith shops.

Fruit baskets: 100k-500k gold
This Spawns on the table where I'm standing. It is an in demand Item; "Fruit Basket" is Synonymous with "Rares". They spawn at server up in several places but in Most you have to eat the fruit out of the basket in order to get them. There is only one place that I know of to get an actual fruit Basket, and that is this Farmhouse in Yew.

Make sure you Log out there the night before and are there right at server up ready to grab that Basket off the table. Plan on their being competitors :)

I have seen the suggested retail of this item at $30,000 In a word NOPE! That estimate was accurate back when 30k was a lot of money, and only a few people had houses. With the opening of trammel, and the explosion of demand on the rares market the price has since changed. I watched a rares hunter laugh off an offer of 70k and settle at 90k and 1k of each reagent (about another 35k worth of regs, plus the time it takes to go around Buying 1k of each reg)

Fruitcake 500k gold
This was a holiday gift from OSI from 2 years ago. This one was being offered for sale at 500k on Baja.

Full Jars: 100k-250k gold
This can only be found on the island of Occlo (Haven in Trammel) I don't believe they spawn at all on the trammel side as the whole Island had some serious recoding done to make it into "haven".

On the felucca side they still spawn every day at server up. However there are still catches, they spawn behind an Oven and cant be seen unless using an Illegal 3rd party Program (UO Extreme) which I understand no longer functions with UO.

People are still getting the Jars though, supposedly if you keep moving the oven back and fourth over and over again, you can get the graphic to disappear long enough to snatch the Jars.

The Price varies greatly but Again this depends on who is buying them, what shard, how many are on the market etc.

Fur: 300k-900k
This used to spawn on some animals, however that has changed, and made fur a rare item. You can find it as a monthly server up spawn at the swamp huts West of Destard.

Furniture Dye Tub: 250k gold
This looks like a Dye tub, however it is used to dye furniture, and it says "Furniture Dye Tub" When you click on it. (Beware of scammers trying to sell normal Dye tubs)

Garlic pure: 500k-1 million gold
This is a confirmed rare. Still working on finding the whereabouts of this one :)

Glacial Staff30k-100k gold

These are Extremely cool and command a high Price on most shards. They only spawn as occasional loot on Giant Ice Serpents (Found in the Ice Dungeon), and roughly only on 1 in 100. Glacial staff hunters also report they have a better change of getting one in Felucca over Trammel. I have spent a little time trying to chase down one of these Trophies to no avail. However I have learned that the ICE dungeon is a Much tougher place to venture into than I had remembered it in the Pre glacial staff days. The spawn can be overpowering especially at the entrance. So do exercise caution.

This is the entrance of the Ice dungeon. It's located North of the entrance of The Dungeon Wrong. (The other side of the mountains that Wrong is built into)

Just inside the ICE dungeon, this is a Very Light doorway group of monsters

These are -Ice Snakes- Worthless for finding a Glacial Staff, but a lot of people make the mistake and kill them for about an hour or so until a "Giant Ice serpent" meanders on by... Glacial staffs will only spawn on the "Giant Ice Serpent"

Giant Ice serpent and friends...

Whoo Haaa!

New Glacial Staff Hunting method!

Presently the bulk of Glacial staff hunters take their life in their hands and brave the Throngs of monsters that just pile up in the ice dungeon hoping to stay alive long enough to kill a Giant Ice Serpent in hopes they will be carrying a Prized Glacial Staff

Unbeknownst to most players, there is a second place the Giant Ice serpent spawns, and its somewhere that most players will never venture in their entire UO career.

The Northern Ice caps of T2a.

Its a bit of a Journey that requires a Boat (or an extremely hazardous trip through the ICE dungeon to find the Exit that leads to the frozen northern wastes of T2a)

Go to the City of Paupa in T2a, its a longer boat trip but far less hazardous. (If your adventurous you can launch a boat from a few locations in the north and north east Desert of T2a)

You wont need a map, the sea isn't as wide as it looks, you basically sail north and before you know it you will be at one of the two ice cap landmasses. Sail to the west, and make land fall in the western of the two icy landmasses up there, they both have the same monsters, however the Western one is much more wide open, the eastern cap is very constricted with Trees and cliffs, its easy for the Snow elementals and ice trolls to Corner you. But on the western one you have a lot more room to maneuver

In 10 minutes from when I left the ship I had found and killed 5 ice serpents, in relative safety I might add (compared to the ice dungeon) there are plenty of Ice Trolls and Snow elementals here, but you will usually only have a handful of monsters here instead of a Gaggle of them to deal with.

You will still have to kill a LOT of Serpents for a Staff but you can find them faster here and your odds of living are 9038462394 times better :)

Globe: 1000-5000 gold
(recovered from a Ship Wreck):

Goat-skinned: 1 million gold
There is a Skinned deer that exists and is a Genuine Server Birth rare (Spawns north of Hythloth on Fire island at server birth). This item however does not seem to be a server birth rare and is more likely taken from the butcher shop near the west bank in Briton with a Bug. (I doubt the bug still works). If you see one in circulation it will probably be Very Very expensive, however there won't be many like it. :)

Goblet: 250k gold
First Level of Deceit these can be ceramic, silver or gold.

Golden mark scrolls: 10k-50k gold
Not as much of a rare as it is a Bug. Take a stack of mark scrolls while at any location in trammel, and try and mark a rune. It will turn the scrolls into the Golden color as shown (the same color as your Cursor when your in Trammel)

Gorget leather Orange: 2500-5000 gold
These spawn on Npc bowyers. It's a different color than normal leather. (You can cut it up and make orange leather with it, its Very cool to display a Piece of normal cut leather, then a piece of orange cut leather, then a Piece of green (From ranger armor) cut leather) since a lot of people don't know about Orange leather at all. Also its not a Blaring contrast in color from normal leather so it helps to display it near normal leather.

Hangover remedy: 5k-10k gold
Heh Ever been Drunk in UO? Better yet, ever been to a party in UO in a part of the map that is New to you and wandered off only to find because your drunk, and your INT is 0 and now you can't recall home?

That is what this is for. Oh and to stop the Bowing and Hiccupping as well (If you have never been drunk in UO these 2 paragraphs wont make a lot of sense to you lol)

It does however sell as a rare, the bottle is completely different than any other bottle in UO, it makes a great addition to houses especially player run taverns.

The item was given as a present in a bag of goodies for the 300th anniversary of Mondain's defeat. Odds are good that this item will be given out again sometime in the future.

Hanging armor 1-2 million gold(4-5 types):
These are Server Birth Items, the roof of Lord British's castle seems to be a universally agreed upon location, however some people are saying chests in Serpents hold and Trinsic.

There are a few Problems with people trying to say "Nope, it spawns here (any single location) and Nowhere else".

1-If they found it in one location at server birth they were Probably not at the other location.

2-People (Especially when it comes to rares tend to be Idiots and think it makes them look Knowledgeable to talk smack about other people who located the same or similar item in a different location.

3-There are 4 Maybe 5 different types, its not inconceivable that all 3 places are correct, and that there are a few more places that no one is talking about where they might spawn.

Serpents hold is Very Likely to be correct as they still spawn in the chest there, (Bring your lock picker and start opening the chests at the guard posts) However the items weight 255 Stones so they cant be stolen.

Incidentally, there are Lanterns that weigh 255 stones in Chests as well, the reason they weight that much is not because they are a special lantern, the weight was changed specifically to keep people from stealing them.

Hanging Ringmail Armor:
The hanging ringmail is supposed to be able to be Equipped, it does not however offer any armor protection.

Hay-scattered Thin: 100k-300k gold
Spawns in one of the Ranger huts on the Mainland side of Skara Brae.

Hay-Scattered Thick: 100k-300k gold
Spawns in the same ranger hut, but not as often as the thin scattered hay.

Hay Sheave: 5k-10k gold (DONT BUY NORMAL HAY)
This is not the hay that is purchased from NPC farmers, these can be found behind some archery targets. Simply Double click the Hay to harvest them.

Heart: 500-1000 gold
Zombie Loot (Give one to your sweetheart in game! lol)

Heavy Crossbow (Slanting to the left): 500-2500 gold
Purchased, or crafted crossbows always slant to the right, the ones slanting to the left must be found as loot on monsters or appropriated from crates and Barrels from various locations throughout Britannia. By far the best, easiest, and most Lucrative location is the ranger Huts in Skara Brae. (Exact same places whips are found)

Neon Hair Dye: (BUY IN GAME from hair resylist)
There are two types of hair dye, one is available for 44 gold and is not rare in the least, the other was given out as a prize from OSI, it allows for a player to Dye their hair a Neon Blue, Green, Orange, or Purple.

Hair Restyle Deed: This is a Prize given out by OSI, basically you can change your hairstyle permanently once with one of these deeds. They are not that Expensive (at the moment) however expect the price to steadily increase as the supply runs low.

It is very Likely that they will be re-issued as prizes for occasions in the future.

Horseshoes: 1000-5000 gold
Can be found in the crates, barrels, and Gold Boxes (Strong Boxes) in blacksmith shops.

Horse Dung: 500k-750k
There are two Versions of these Lovelies, Both can be found outside the Minoc stables every month or so at server up. If you get one of these through hunting, or through payment, some suggestions on where to display them in your house: 1-The Porch, center tile. That way when your friends walk in, you can point out what they stepped in and demand they wipe their feet! 2-Only have Two chairs in the main room of the house, and have one resting on top of the Horse Dung, when company is over make sure you quickly seat yourself in the chair that is "Dung free" then accuse your Friends of having poor manners. 3-Take some Kindling and Light a Campfire... :)---We interrupt this Portion of rares Guide on the ground that it is currently 2:08 in the Morning, and the over all direction of the guide was starting to go awry, we now will resume (back on track) with the rares guide---

Horse Bridal: 1 million gold
This is a server Birth Item that comes from the Minoc stables.

Hourglass: 1 million gold
This item does exist and is in circulation on most shards, however because there are usually a Small handful its my guess that it is neither a server birth or a monthly spawn, but rather obtained thorough a Bug.

Ingot(s): 1000-5000 gold
These are found in the crates, barrels, and Golden Boxes (Strong Boxes) of blacksmith shops. They are an Easy steal as they are lighter (1 stone) than most of the other blacksmith rares loot. (Pic is both Stacked, and Single).

Iron ingots (Various unusual colors): 10-20k each
These were created as a glitch in the system, and only on the trammel side for a while. They had to be purchased from an NPC smith who would occasionally have 10 Miscolored ingots. To the best of my knowledge this bug no longer occurs, and I hear from other rares hunters that GMs are deleting these on sight. If you happen to have some Locked down in a neato place in your house, and you absolutely have to call a GM. (This goes for everything you have that is Suspect). Either 1-Go outside away from your house and call, or 2-Unlock it and put it in a bag with some other items so the GM wont see it. Or 3-Don't call the GM.

I actually doubt that OSI has an Official policy of deleting colored ingots or a myriad of other things, however some GMs seem to think they do. In addition to Bug items being deleted, I have heard of several things being deleted by trigger happy GMs including Tame animals (Not animals being stored, or trained on) in houses. Quest items basically the GM in question had never seen the item before so he deleted it thinking it was created by a bug never mind the player worked his butt off for it and it was a perfectly legal item, Unique tamable animals, apparently in that case the animals were not intended to be tamable, but some bold tamers went ahead and "tamed em" dying several times in the process. The policy on deleting items seems to waffle from Cool and the way it should be (Not deleting anything without a Good reason) to "When in question better delete". As you may have guessed I'm a bit Biased on the Issue :) That is good though, if I wrote a rares guide of this magnitude and scope and didn't mention that the company (OSI) itself was one of the Major obstacles to collecting and enjoying rares then I wouldn't be doing my Job as a writer, hunter or collector.

Item Bless Deed: 1 million gold
This is an amazingly awesome item; It was given as a Prize in the cleanup Britannia contest. (Actually I think it was given as the highest possible prize). To buy one can cost a cool million in game gold, or as high as $100 on Ebay (Actually several were sold in the $30 to $50 range, but they are getting rather scarce these days.

I'm Very glad your reading this, because I'm going to share with you something that most players don't know about item bless deeds, and many that have obtained these Items have learned to their sorrow.

It newbiefies an Item as far as it makes it stay on your person when you Die. However it will NOT stop an item from wearing out.

That means that your silver Katana of whoopass and durability that is blessed is going to crumble just as fast as if you hadn't Blessed it. The only thing the deed does it makes it stay on your person if you die.

Ok, all is not Lost, there are "Indestructible" weapons in the game. Again that title is deceptive, as indestructible items will wear out and if not repaired eventually break too. However an Indestructible weapon can be Fully repaired and not loose ANY of its hit points. Most other weapons and armor can be repaired, however they can only be repaired so many times before they become useless and break in your hands.

If you have an Indestructible item, repair it or have it repaired every hour or two of use you have on it, that will keep it New forever.

Now, back to your item bless deed, Don't use it on any item unless its an indestructible item. To use it on something less is simply a waste of money. You could probably trade an Item bless deed for a placed two story or possibly even a tower. It is an Extremely valuable possession, it can only be used once, so don't waste it!

There is also a side note, there is a third level spell called "Bless" it will increase your strength, intelligence and Dexterity by a few points each for 2 minutes. It has nothing to do with the Bless deed in the slightest.

Some SOB was adverting that he would sell bless scrolls claiming they were Bless Deeds for outrageous sums of gold, or a few $. An end was put to it almost immediately and by the time I had heard of it the post on the message board it happened on had been deleted and he had stopped answering his ICQ.

Had the scammer successfully been able to talk any of the people (and their were a few players who just didn't know any better) into sending them RL cash then he would have been traced, arrested and charged with a crime. There is a case that recently happened in Texas with a juvenile fraudulently taking money from people over Paypal and not delivering on the goods. He was arrested and taken through the criminal justice system for it. It's not a question of if paying a lot of money for an Item in a video game is good or bad, its just plain and simple fraud and misrepresentation.
