Bacon slab:
These are found in Barrels, Locked crates, and Locked Golden Boxes at provisioners shops and Butchers.

Banana bunch:
These are found in Barrels, Locked crates, and Locked Golden Boxes at provisioner's shops..

Barrel Water-Open:
These are available all over the place, npc houses, docks, provisioner's shops (Don't be a lamer and take them from provisioners unless you are totally desperate, try some docks first. Rares spawn inside the Barrels at provisioners shops, and other people may be waiting around hidden for the next spawn of the rares.)

To "Release" the Barrels, have a water Pitcher with water in it. (Side note, the water trick is not currently an exploit, in the event it becomes one I would strongly recommend not using it and I have plans on removing it from this guide.)You can buy water pitchers from npc waiters/waitresses at most of the taverns and restaurants. Double click your water pitcher, then the Barrel (If there is anything in the Barrel, steal it out or move on to the next barrel) . After you do this, the Barrel is now a "Water Barrel" as shown in the picture.

Simply double click the pitcher then the water barrel, (Putting the water back into the pitcher) now the Barrel is Empty and yours!

For some reason turning it into a water barrel, them emptying it releases the "locked" down status.

Barrel Unfinished:
These can be found in Dungeons, and fished up. However it can also be manufactured now and their is no difference from the dungeon ones and the manufactured barrels only the ones "Fished up" are rare.

Bear Mask:
Why do these remind me of the College Drinking hats? The ones that Hold two cans of beer and has the "Snorkel straw" that comes down to the face?

Actually the reason that reminds me of such, is because on Baja (The shard I learned to play UO on) It was mainly KeWl DuEd Rude DaWgS Dig wearing "Dat Phat Head Gear" that would sport the bear masks and no other cloths. Something about Kewl dudes.... *shakes head * I was that way once myself, then I turned 13. *Grins*

However, in my UO career as a shard to shard Banker, and Merchant I have found that on many shards the masks are used by role players, or normal people and the value of the Masks varies greatly from each shard.

On Atlantic, you might pay in the 500 to 1000 range, on Baja (of all places lol) your probably going to pay over 1000 for them.

As with all loot though, if you routinely check bags at the bank you might even find one for free, I found 6,000 Gold in a pack on the bank floor once too Never know what you will come up with.

These spawn on monsters, you have a small chance getting one from the surface spawn monsters (Orcs, ratmen, trolls, ettons, etc) but you will have better luck trying the dungeon monsters)

You can also find them spawning in chests at Bucks den.(Only the ones found on monsters are Magical)

Bear Rug:
A Bear Mask but set on the floor for people to wipe their feet off as they walk in. :)

Big fish

The Big fish is one of the new rares, and falls right into line with the New generation of rares being developed by OSI, rather than an Item that spawns in a location, something has to be done (fishing for this) to get one.

Supposedly they can be fished up at 65 Skill level, I can tell you from several hours of experience that it would be hard to fish one up anytime soon at that skill level.

At 91 Fishing skill on Baja, I Finally got one (I went from 82 fishing to 91 in the process). All included I would say it took 6 Hours.

On Test center, my sweetheart and I were able to get 4 in just under an Hour, On test center you can turn your skills up to GM in an instant, and we were fishing on a boat at the GM level for them. I actually got one, and she got 3 in that Hour.... lol Two were caught while parked, another while trolling, and the last she caught while I was fishing up an MIB (message in bottle).

Having a High skill level in fishing defiantly appears to help.

They weight 100 Stones each and come out of the water with a Nice blue almost Marlin or tuna fish color. When they were first being pulled up several were ruined because the fisherman would unknowingly or accidentally stack them together, however it appears that they are no longer stackable (Hence no longer ruinable in this manner).

The sea serpent we picked up a few minutes earlier. The Big fish is what's right at my feet, and what caused the Pole to Bend.

Our first big fish ever :)

100 Stones! (they all weigh that)

These are cool on their own, but even cooler when used with a Taxidermy Kit that you can Buy for 80k from an NPC tanner. In order to use the kit you need to be a Master carpenter 90+ skill. In fact the tanner wont sell it to you unless your 90+ skill in carpentry.

Also, there is really only one type of Big fish you pull up, what color the trophy is depends on the facing of the wall it's mounted on. You can take the green fish down, and remount it on the opposite facing wall and it will be a Blue one, and Vice-versa.

Blood Vial:
These are found as loot on Blood elementals. If your ego isn't unmanageably large there is a Super Easy way to get them in Mass Quantity Just pull them out of the corpses of dead blood eles once the corps goes gray. :) Many people who kill Blood eles leave them behind.

But if your "Machismo" wont let you scavenge dungeon scraps for these rares, this is one way of killing a Blood ele:

You see a Blood elemental is one Tough Monster, I don't think, (I will admit it in advance, I'm probably going to be wrong about this) that a melee fighter can kill one, at least -I- don't think its possible for a Non mage to Kill one. They hit for about a Million Points of damage, Katanas and spears just seem to make it mad.

They throw spells to, but if you can get off a few heal spells on yourself you can survive their magical attack easy enough.

Here is the trick. Find one; get him to attack by shooting it with a bow, or casting a spell on it. THEN RUN. Let em keep hitting you with spells, make sure you heal a few times so his damage spells don't kill you, but when he starts throwing weaker spells that means its is out of Mana.

Just cast a Blade spirit next to it, Paralyze, or paralyze field it first to give you time to get the Blade spirit off. Then hide or run in -WIDE- circles around the blade spirit. Blade spirits are attracted to Movement, whatever is moving and close to them is what will be attacked.. So make sure your Running in a WIDE circle and keeping the Blood elemental between you and the Blade spirit.

You have to run them out of mana or else he will just dispel your Blade spirit. Sometimes it takes more than one blade spirit.

I'm sure there are Many other ways to take this monster out, this is just one that I have seen done effectively on numerous occasions.

Now if you're not the adventurous Type, just go to the level 3 of shame, and pick them up off the carcasses of dead blood eles. A lot of people don't keep the blood vials after they kill the blood eles.

This varies from shard to shard, on Europa you might not find a lot of blood vials, but on Pacific you will find a ton. Feluca seems to be more productive than trammel too. (On Trammel, people will pick up anything and everything).

Body Parts:
Legs, Arms, Torsos, heads. These can all be found from Shipwrecks. They also spawn as loot on Giant serpents, and Zombies. I fed a pair of legs to my Dragon on siege too. Ewwww! :) Also (and listed separately) "a heart" "a Liver" and Entrails can also be found on Zombies.

Bone:
This is found as loot on Bone-Magi as well as Skeletal Magi. Deceit, and the Graveyard in T2a (Just south of the Orc fort above Deluca).

Bola Balls
found as loot on Orc Bombers, and all male savage warriors. (if your putting together a bola arsenal, try the heavy savage spawn in the swamp west of Destard dungeon).

Bolas To make a bola, you need 4 bola balls (bola balls are found as loot on orc bombers, or male savages) and 3 pieces of cut leather. The minimum tinkering skill is 61.1. When you fail, you will loose some leather but not one of the balls. At the minimum of 61.1 tinkering you will loose around 50 leather for every successful Bola.

Bolas can be used to knock people or npcs (Savage Ridgeback riders) from their mounts. However you only have a small chance of success. If your doing it for PvP and trying to knock a player of his mount bring a LOT of bolas, and be prepared for some disappointments and hard knocks. Unless there is going to be a change in one of the next patches (and their might be) it will be extremely difficult to knock someone from their mount.

I was unable to successfully separate a player from their mount one (long) afternoon on test center, but I received a complimentary can of whoopass for my efforts. Remember the golden rule, it is better to give than receive this especially applies to whoopass and I was definitely on the receiving end of this one.

If your trying to use bolas to knock ridgeback riders off their mounts to tame them, I would suggest teaming up so there is a bard and a tamer in your group. Provoke the male savages onto the ridgeback riders; you have about a 1 in 4 chance of the male savage knocking the ridgeback rider from its steed. Side note the minimum taming requirement for a savage ridgeback is 78.3

Important, once a ridgeback is tame, you need to jump on it and recall to an Inn and Log out. If your in the game on the same server (and possibly on a different server) when the savage rider dies the mount will most likely disappear with him. Hopefully that is something that will be changed with one of the upcoming patches, but its if it isn't you can still keep your mount if you insta-log long enough for the rider to be killed or re-spawn.

Bone Containers:

There are several different varieties of these. They look like a corps that has gone to bones, however they can be used as a container. If you find a skeleton inside a crate or barrel in a dungeon, odds are you have found a bone container if it weights exactly 50 stones and you can carry it :) you found one!

In addition to Dungeons there is also a Good spawn (but with a lot of competition from other rares hunters) at the Briton graveyard inside a wooden Box.

Bone Parts:
Not at all like containers as you cant store anything in them. Most of these are fished up from shipwrecks, however there are a few in dungeons that do not have the "Recovered from a shipwreck" tag. In this case the ones that do not have the "Recovered from a shipwreck" on them are a bit more rare.

The Price has to do entirely with who your talking to though, some people will pay more just because something is "Recovered from a shipwreck: and a few people think that shipwreck items are lame.... lol

Bows (Slanting to the Left) :
Bows that are Made, or purchased from an NPC slant to the right. The ones that slant to the left can only be found as loot on monsters, or stolen out of chests. If you hunt for whips in the Skara Brea ranger huts (located on the mainland side of Skara, see "Whips" for more info) you will find more than enough Bows that slant to the left.

Brain, " a brain" :
Loot on Zombies.

Broken Clock "Recovered from a shipwreck": (No Picture available) Fished up from a shipwreck.

Candle:
Loot on Orcs, it looks a lot different from the newbie candle. Click on it and it becomes larger.

Cheese-wedge:
Find these in the Barrels, Crates and Golden Boxes (Strong Boxes) in Provisioners Shops. Also, these are fairly small, its easy to overlook them because other food will spawn on top of them and block most of it from sight.

If your Specifically looking for a Cheese-Wedge or you just like to clean up everything good (Like me :) ) watch for little shadows, or imperfections on the edges of the other larger food items, often it's a cheese-wedge underneath it with only a fraction sticking out.

Cheese-wheel w/o wedge:
Found as loot in provisioners shops, these appear to be the other part of the cheese wedge, or Vice versa. Having both on a table in display at your house is always a very Nice touch :)

Chisels:
Carpenter shops, Moonglow, and Skara both have good carpenter shops for procuring chisels. Look in the crates and strongbox. (If you see a barrel in a carpenter shop check it as well.)

Chisels are one of the least well known semi rares not only do less people know the location, but even less know its a "semi rare", so they command the highest prices. I have seen them sell for as much as 75k but something between 5k and 20k is more common.

Coconut-split:
Look in the chests, barrels and gold boxes in Provisioners shops. These cannot be found as loot on monsters, regular coconuts can however those are not considered rare (As the split and the dripping coconuts are). These are also stackable; a lot of people don't realize that. A Pair of stacked coconuts looks fantastic in a house, and it will be something that a lot of your visitors who have seen rares before, will not have seen.

Coconut Split Stacked:

Coconut-unsplit (Dripping):
Look in the Crates, Barrels, and Gold strong boxes of Provisioners shops.

Colored Wire:
Found in crates, strong boxes and Barrels in Blacksmith shops. The vast majority of these come from the Serpents hold Blacksmith due to the high number of crates it has. There is also a High Number of people camping out, and a High number of people who will stop by just to check on the crates.

Have some patients when hunting for these, and try not to get to worked up when you have been watching the same chests waiting for some to spawn for 20 minutes, and the moment they do another thief, or someone who just recalled in snatches them.

Because of the competitive nature of the serpents hold smith shop, I want to be perfectly clear that these will spawn at ALL smith shops, the main reason people favor serpents hold is the High Number of crates.

Colored Wires Silver (Stacked):

Colored Wires copper (Stacked):

Colored Wires gold (Stacked):

Colored Wires iron (Stacked):

Cookies, plate of cookies:
Monster Loot. Orcs are the most common carriers of the round plate of cookies, but they have been found on Rat men and other monsters as well.

Crossbows (Slanting to the Left):
Crossbows that are made or purchased from NPCs slant to the right, these have to be taken as loot from monsters, or stolen from Npc Barrels or Chests. The vast majority of these come from the mainland side of Skara Brae, the barrels in the ranger huts (same place as whips). They can sell for a 500 to a few thousand at the West Briton bank.

Dates-bunch:
Crates, barrels, and strong boxes of provisioner's shops. Its one of the rare food items spawn that does spawn frequently but less frequent than the other items in its class (Banana Bunches, Split coconuts Bacon slabs Etc)

Deer Mask :
Same as the bear mask, can be found as loot on monsters (Orcs, Lizard men, Trolls etc) you will have slightly better luck in finding these as loot on dungeon monsters than surface spawns, but they can be found on Both. They also spawn inside metal chests at Bucks Den. Some of the ones that spawn on monsters are magic.

Daemon Bone Armor

This is one of the coolest new rares available. Its similar to bone armor in the aspect of you find it one piece at a time. It's found as loot on Efreets, you have to kill about 100 of them in order to get a piece. Efreets look like a red air elemental, and they are tough, probably 30% to 50% tougher than an Air elemental. You can solo one of them with a melee fighter, but you will have to Cure and heal a lot, they cast poison more than Air, water, and fire elementals do, and unlike air elementals these babies can Punch! There melee attack can be over 20 Points of damage to even a well armored character.

There is still a Much larger danger about Hunting Efreets than the Efreet itself, and that is the swarm of other monsters that spawn in the same areas. Efreets spawn in the South East part of the T2a Desert (Just north of the City of Paupa in the lost lands) they also spawn in the Deluca passage (On the Deluca side, not the Britannia side) in the far northeast corner. Both places have heavy spawns of fire elementals, hellcats, and Lava lizards. The Desert spawns also includes Giant Lava serpents, Predator hellcats, hellhounds, Giant serpents, and Swamp tentacles. Most of these monsters by themselves are respectable foes, however the huge numbers they spawn in, and the frequency of the spawn rate makes that area of the desert an extremely dangerous place.

The Deluca Passage on the other hand has its own set of problems, you wont be bombarded with 15+ Hardcore monsters at the same time, but it is a very tight and constricted area. Most things here spawn in 2s. An experienced melee fighter can probably handle two lava lizards, but if the fight moves much in one direction along the narrow corridor or another you will get the next spawn pair involved, so instead of fighting 2 lava lizards, your fighting 2 Predator hell cats -and- two lava lizards. The only way out other than recalling, which isn't always possible if monsters are right on your tail is to go into the cave heading back to the lands of Britannia or out the exit that leads to Paupa. It may not sound that harsh from just reading it, and it wont be if you remember not to run around too much with monsters chasing you. If you can keep the fight more or less in a small area you wont be ganged up on and you can work your way steadily back to where the Efreets spawn.

Once there still exercise caution one or more Efreets will spawn alternately with pairs of fire elementals, if your not done with combat on the Efreets by the time the next pair of fire eles spawn you could be in some serious trouble. More than once I had to high tail it back down the passage with about 1/3 of my hit points left, and all through the passage more and more monsters will be chasing you because there is only 1 way in or out and you have to run through several spawn points in the narrow corridors to make it out of the passage. It's not uncommon to pull a train of fire eles, hell hounds, and numerous lava lizards right up to the server boundaries. (lol If you can try Hard to avoid that, a lot of people who use that cave traveling from the lands of Britannia to the lost lands. Many are tradesmen or mere apprentices of the way of arms! Such a motley assortment of creatures in such an important causeway can wreak havoc!).

The best type of rares hunter to amass Daemon bone armor is probably the Tamer, Dragons/Wyrms make short work out of just about anything in the spawn areas. Not to belabor the point be careful not to get overwhelmed by fresh spawns, in the Quest for Demon bone armor My tamer lost 2 Dragons and a handful of mounts over two days.

Mages can also do well hunting for Daemon bone armor, most of the people selling sets are mages.

A BOLD melee fighter with a LOT of cures, and a good connection can probably handle a single Efreet, I was content to find one, draw Blood, then get the heck out, as they really love throwing that poison spell around!

Here are some screen shots of the Desert areas:

Deluca Pass (Deluca Side)

Deluca Pass (inside, Efreets spawn in the northeast section, you can occasionally find one that another adventurer dragged out in the more central sections.

Deluca Pass (Lands of Britannia side, this mountain is located south west of the city of Trinsic)

It can be quite a mission to amass a complete set lol :)

Dead Wood:

This can be found at the reagent shop Herbal Splendor in Moonglow. There is some pretty serious competition for any items in the Herbal Splendor shop, I wouldn't recommend showing up and waiting for others to leave, rather show up and if people are there just come back in a while (30 minutes or so) Also Be Extremely careful, for in town rares spots the item has to be stolen from the chest, most rares hunters will not call the Guards on you while your doing this, but Herbal Splendor is in Moonglow, and there are LOTS of people coming in and out of the shop, a lot of them will call the guards just for the heck of it.

The second source for dead wood was the Reaper. It's a Magical tree that spawns in forests all over the place and T2a. You can almost always find one (or more) in Shame Valley (The stretch of land in front of shame dungeon) The Monster spawn there is Hellatious though! So be careful. Its not currently spawning dead wood as loot, but will probably start up again when necromancy gets a little closer.

Some other places they are common is south of "Wrong Dungeon" and in Eastern Yew.

On Rare occasion I have found reapers by themselves, but usually they spawn in areas with other monsters.

A reaper by itself is defiantly not a Weenie Monster. It casts lots of spells including flame strike. But it has one Major weakness; it's a tree and cant Move. To Kill a reaper, run up, attack it, let it hit you with a few spells then run off screen, Heal (and Cure if you need to!) then run back. Don't worry about damaging the reaper while its casting spells at you; what you want to do is run it out of Mana.

When its only casting wimpy little spells in your direction, then its out of mana and anyone with even a modest amount of weapons skill can kill it. (I Killed one once with an Archery of 30 (It was 36 before I was done).

If you're a GM Fencer, Swords, or Macer, Just run right in and kill it :) The advice above was for Everyone else in the game.

The last thing but it is important about Dead wood, is that is one of the Planned Necromancy reagents, (Meaning when Necromancy comes out people are going to need these in cartloads) It is Unknown if OSI will have Necro Regs spawn on town vendors, or if players will have to go to great lengths to obtain their Regs for this (Presumably) Powerful Skill of Necromancy.

Dead wood (Stacked):

Dried Flowers and Herbs:
These come from the "Herbal Splendor" Shop in Moonglow city. There is a Great spawn in the crates, and they spawn in the Golden chest (Strong box) as well, however the competition among other rares hunters is Fierce. If you go there and see someone Camping out its best to just move on and come back. Even though there are a lot of these already on the market, the demand remains strong and consistent; you will have no trouble finding top dollar buyers for these. In addition to other rares Hunters there are a Lot of people in Moonglow making it quite dangerous to steal in. (Some people will call the guards out of reflex, others get their rocks off doing it, so be careful when in there stealing. If I'm camping out the site, I will be visible when other Rares hunters show up so they know I was here first, most rares hunters will be polite and move on, later when you show up and see someone camped there you can do the same thing for them. Not all but most rares hunters are courteous.

Most of the other people coming in and out of Herbal Splendor are reagent shoppers they don't know about the Rares spawn, to them its just another reagent shop, and your just another thief. There are others who know about the Rares spawn and hang out there just to Guard kill rares hunters.

My Advice to you for camping there is to do it hidden, show yourself when other rares hunters show up, but for the rest of the people your Much better off if they don't know your there. All 4 Types of dried Items sell very well, my personal favorite is Type A however they will all fetch a pretty penny.

As with all rares the Price varies wildly from Shard to Shard and person to person. If your Selling do it at the West Briton bank, you will get a good price there, as a Ballpark ask for 2500 for 1 or maybe 10k for whole set.

If your Buying go to www.tradespot.com Post an ad saying "Dried flowers wanted will pay (Whatever amount) 1k Per item" You will typically save money when Buying rares if you do it through tradespot and you will typically get a better Price when selling by calling out at the west Briton Bank.

Some people * Grins* (A LOT OF PEOPLE!) make their livings and fortunes in UO just by buying on tradespot and selling at the bank.

Dried Flowers(Type b):
