News update on the water trick. One of the Sept patches attempted to undue the water trick. However if you try it a few times it will still work. As far as I know its still Legal and no one has or will be penalized/banned for using it. However that is only as far as I know, and OSI is a very good company honestly 96-98% of the time, but ever now and then some employee will "take the hard line" about something. Long story short, the water trick still works, and I think its still ok to use, but its days are probably numbered.
The water trick is a Very simple method to unlock barrels and wooden empty tubs. As far as I know it is Legal, but that may change. It is Soooo Useful that I hope they don't make it illegal. (As they recently did for the Magencia Docks daily rope spawn) *sighs* their are bean counters everywhere I suppose.
Anyway :) Back to the water trick.
It's an easy Process, Buy a water pitcher from any NPC waiter or waitress, take it anywhere their are Barrels or Wooden tubs. Click your Pitcher, then the barrel/tub to fill it with the water, then click your now empty Pitcher then the Barrel/tub again to empty the water back into your pitcher. Then the Item is no longer "Locked" and can be taken freely. In a few hours, or at the latest the next server up a replacement barrel/tub will spawn.
Try and only take them form places where people are not using them. Docks, and stables are good locations. Provisioners shops and ranger huts are BAD LOCATIONS people will be getting items out of those all day long, but occasionally some lamer will grab them because they are too out of it, or they are trying to be a "Richard Edward".
