Taming skill from 75-85

(You're close to Dragon Power!)

The last 25 Points of taming is where your going to spend the majority of your training time. Once you're an 80/80 tamer (80 taming and 80 animal lore) you can buy Dragons from other players and will be able to control them fairly well, 85/85 is MUCH better, 85/100 or 90/100 is night and day better. Technically its possible to transfer dragons 70/70 but I have (no kidding) Never seen a 70/70 tamer successfully take a dragon from the stables, out to a hunting location and bring it back. The Dragons usually go wild on 70/70 tamers or are killed by other monsters. a 70/70 tamer only has about 1 in 20 orders obeyed, so they will literally have to say "all follow me" 20 times to get a dragon to follow them, since a dragon will go wild if it hears and does not obey as few as 8 orders in a row without being fed, they go usually go wild pretty quick. In combat where things are attacking the dragon, forget about it. At 70/70 you can Buy and stable them but that's about It. lol

Bulls

As we discussed in the previous chapter Bulls are going to be in short supply, they spawn consistently however there are 23423523456346346 other would be tamers all competing for the same bulls, so its going to be tough to get in enough practice time.

Deluca

Prime time (7pm pacific) there are a LOT of tamers in Deluca. The hoard of people in the bull spawn areas has some of the worse behavior of anyone in UO, tame jumping (Trying to tame something that another tame is working on), Attacking other people tames, not re-naming, Not Releasing! (that one is particularly "thick" as not only other people, but the tamer who tamed the animal is going to suffer from it). The every man for himslef attitude seems to permeate the Delucca crowd. Those same people for the most part turn back into rational humans after their power hour is up. Its not really that effective tho, by being a lamer they might be able to tame 4 more bulls than another person during the same power hour.... Whop-De-Do.

Tamer 1 of 2 that I noticed went about taming in a Civalized maner when I was out getting these screen shots.

The first tamer character I developed was on Siege, and taming is one of the few skills that is MUCH easier to develop on Siege than any other shard because of the relatively low population there are not 8-20 tamers hanging out in Delucca 24/7 for a crack at the bull spawn, there are usually only 2-3.

It wasn't until I trained up a tamer on Great Lakes that I fully realized what a hurdle this particular level of taming was going to be. The way were going to beat the competition on this is by hitting several other smaller Bull Spawn locations and for the most part ignoring Deluca other than a quick check to see how it is.

Tamer 2 of 2 that I noticed went about taming in a Civilized manner when I was out getting these screen shots.

The next most popular place for bulls is the animal pen in the center of the hedge maze, for this and the next place (animal pin in Jhelom) you need to be aware that their are a lot of Bards that practice there, their is sometimes a bit of animosity between the barding and taming population, my advice to you is to foster good relations with the any bards working there, ask if they would mind letting you tame the bulls.

Getting into an Argument with the bards there and casting fire field on the whole pen (which tamers do all the time here), is NOT what I would call "fostering good relations"....

The way to have no problems from the Bards is to show up and -Talk- to them, the biggest lamers can be the nicest people, (and vice versa) depending on if you Talk to them or not.

Right when I got to the animal pen, I noticed one of the bards screwing with the tamer that was trying to tame a bull. This was just the beginning of the tamers problems, in about 3 minutes 3 separate people did lamer things to this poor guy. Some tamers really dislike Bards, this sort of thing is where it comes from, many bards really dislike tamers, its because of similar things that tamers do to bards. If you treat members of the other profession Decently AND talk to them, you wont have to deal with much of this.

Ok here goes...

One of the bards in the bottom part of the pic provokes a Goat onto the bull that tamer is trying to tame

The tamer Corp-Pors the goat that is attacking his bull, and another bard steps up, and metor swarms the bull he was working on.

The tamer either overlooked, or didn't respond to it and went back to taming, so the bard in green and black meteor showers the new bull the tamer is trying to tame.

The tamer goes over to confront the meteor swarming bard, but he runs off.

Frustrated he says a few choice words to no one in particular, then goes back to taming...

The guy with the Axe, who wasn't there when all this started recalls in, he killed a goat, and possibly something else, then walked up to the bull the tamer had just started on, and killed it...

Just know ahead of time that their will be times like this at both Deluca, and the Animal Pen in the hedge maze (other places can be bad too, but these are by FAR the worse) On days when there are not a lot of people, or everyone is managing to get along Deluca and the Animal Pen can keep you in Non-Stop bulls to tame because of their high spawn rates.

But when its not all well and good (lol most of the time) your going to go to these back up locations, and between them all you should be able to stay in bulls all of power hour. Also note that the other locations do not have a high spawn rate, or a lot of predators, so as soon as you tame and release the bulls there, you need to Kill them. New bulls will not respawns until that happens.

Jhelom Animal Pen

After the two animal pens, your going to recall to the coast below Trinsic and work your way up, there are 3 sets of 2 Bulls that spawn in this area, and you will almost never run into another tamer.

Southern Coastline (beneath Trinsic)

You recall in to the southern most point that has a bull spawn, then work your way up the coastline

There are 3 separate spawns of at least 2 bulls each along this fairly short stretch of coast.

Follow the coastline around this ford, you are going to actually walk within a screen of the Trinsic moon gate towards the end of the run so if your out of regs, or need to get to a place on the map where your not presently carrying a rune, this is a good spot to do it.

Don't forget to Tame, Release, -and KILL- the bulls in this area, they have few natural predators so it will be forever before new ones spawn for you if you don't.

You can drop in frequently on Deluca as well, the Bull capitol of UO (That almost sounds nasty!), if you see a lot of tamers hanging out just head to the next location.

Your going to tame Bulls like there is no tomorrow, and keep doing it until you get to 80-85, sometime after 80 your going to want to start trying to tame the Giant Toads in-between bull taming trips.

GMing is Tough but totally worth it!
